We have strong connections to schools in the UK, US and continental Europe and we provide links with schools in rural and urban Bangalore. Using relationship building programmes and integrating these programmes into both schools curriculum we promote global learning and awareness raising.

The programmes culminate in a school visit where the pupils that have collaborated on school projects, emails and shared lessons on-line finally meet and help each other learn first hand about their cultures and values.

The programme is not exclusive to international schools, youth clubs, scout groups, religious communities and university societies can also link up with our beneficiaries here to engage in cultural exchanges.

ABOUT US

Since 2001, Arivu Peace Child India has helped build the capacity for young people, from disadvantaged backgrounds, to grow up to be the next generation of community leaders. We continue to do so with the enthusiasm and skills of indian and international interns who bring passion, experience and creativity to our programmes, as well as living in a challenging but fascinating culture. APCI’s internship programmes empower individuals from all over the globe.

We started out as a field office for Peace Child International and grew thanks to our partnership with Arivu Trust to offer a full range of development intervention projects. Our work focuses on raising awareness of health, hygiene and legal rights issues in urban and rural communities as well as improving the children’s basic education.

We reach out to young people housed in a Government Home for young offenders, providing them with access to english and maths teaching and workshops on health and hygiene. However we also offer vocational skills training and fun activities. From learning tailoring to outdoor sports we do all that we can to ensure that their childhood is not defined by their time in the home.

We also have an outreach programme for children studying in Government rural schools. This aims to expand their ambitions, helping them chart a way out of poverty and deprivation. Through alternative teaching methods, cross cultural exposure and infrastructure building we have made a huge impact on attendance levels and exam pass rates.
